Is this Big Foot's distant family? The Internet is debating whether a photo of a group of creatures caught on an Arizona traffic camera are actually sasquatches.
On Friday, the Arizona Department of Transportation sparked a conspiracy theory debate after they posted to Facebook a traffic cam photo with blurry creatures in the background. "We might have spotted a family of sasquatches on SR 260 near Heber this afternoon. What do you think?" the Department of Transportation wrote on the caption of the photo.
That photo ended up being liked over 2,750 times and with over 3,500 shares, with many Facebook users affirming that sasquatches are real and should just be left alone.
However, many Facebook users were quick to note the Department of Transportation's sense of humor
with the post.
YouTube user Steve Alcorn even went as far as to create a video to debunk the conspiracy theory surrounding the beasts.
The Department of Transportation however ended the sasquatch speculation by admitting the post was all in good fun.
"We always try to have a little fun with our Facebook and Twitter feeds," department spokesman Tim Tait told ABC News. "That way, we don't just post news about crashes and road conditions, but a little something to engage our audience in different ways. This posting was one of those efforts -- something that caught our attention, and we thought it might make some people chuckle."
