Draymond Green exits Warriors' loss to Rockets with left ankle sprain

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green left Saturday night's 118-112 loss to the Houston Rockets with a left ankle sprain and did not return.

Green's injury came with 8 minutes, 56 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter after he landed awkwardly on teammate DeMarcus Cousins' foot. Green hobbled toward the Warriors' bench, staying on the ground for a few moments while being checked out by the team's medical staff.

He eventually made his way back to the locker room, moving gingerly as Dr. Rick Celebrini, the Warriors' director of sports medicine and performance, followed behind him.

After the game was over, Green was not concerned that the injury would linger and walked out of the locker room in good spirits.

"I talked to Draymond briefly and he said he thought he sprained the same one early in the game," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. "A little tweak. We'll see. I don't think it's a really serious injury, but we'll have an update [Sunday] I guess."

Green finished the night with 4 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in 24 minutes.

His teammates were also not concerned that Green would miss any kind of significant time.

"He'll be back for the playoffs," Warriors forward Kevin Durant said. "I mean, that's the only thing we worry about here, right?"

The Warriors begin a four-game road trip Monday night against the Charlotte Hornets.
