MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- A seven-year-old boy has died after being hit by a train in Madera County.
It happened just before 9:30 a.m. near Avenue 15 1/2 and Road 29.
The Madera County Sheriff's Office says the boy wandered out of the fenced yard at his home and walked across the street to the train tracks, where he was hit.
A passing driver saw the accident and called authorities for help.
According to BNSF Railway, the train was traveling from Barstow, CA to Pasco, WA.
Deputies say both parents were home and are cooperating with the investigation.
