FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The company held a grand opening today in Downtown Fresno for its first Central Valley office and partner activation center.
Uber is a transportation service app that connects riders with drivers. It allows consumers to submit a request through their smart phone, tablet, or computer.
Staff members say they've seen incredible growth in the Fresno Area since launching here last year, and wanted to invest in this community. The new center employs local workers, and it's expected to open the doors for even more drivers.
"Basically any resident that wants to partner with Uber and find out a little bit more is going to be able to be here, come learn about Uber, get on board, get the vehicle inspection. It's a way to bring resources that we have to Fresno and create more jobs," said Laura Zapata, Uber spokesperson.
All vehicles must pass a 19 point inspection to make sure they meet Uber standards, and the drivers also have to complete a background check. All of that can all be done at the new center.
