FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Vintage Days at Fresno State is officially underway, and, this weekend, organizers expect 50,000 people to attend.

Making horchata from scratch isn't an easy feat and it's a task an Alpha Phi Sigma member takes very seriously.

"This takes a few hours," sorority member Samantha Martinez-Castro said. "Because we have to let the rice soak in and it has to become soft. So we get her at like 5:30 a.m. and let it get loose and then we grind it up here."

The student-run food stands are just a taste of what you can get at Vintage Days, but since all the proceeds here benefit students it's one of the most popular spots.

First time vendor Joshua Brown says they're learning as they set up.

"We hit a little bit of a road bump because there's a lot of regulations," he said. "There's a lot of rules to follow, a lot of safety things. The first time is really hard."

Across campus, you'll find Gina de Young and her team in the kids zone. She says they've been planning this event since last June.

"We are prepared. We have everything weighed down," she said. "We've taken into consideration everything so we're prepared. We're ready."

The more than 40-year tradition offers a beer and wine garden live entertainment and 120 craft and food vendors, and a breezy forecast isn't affecting the fun.

"It's a little windy but it has a nice breeze," student Alexis Muoa said. "I really like it. The suns out too, so yeah, it's not scorching hot."
