Adrien Brody clinched his second Oscar for best actor, winning Sunday for his role as a visionary Hungarian architect in " The Brutalist " and solidifying his legacy as one of Hollywood's most compelling talents.

Brody took home best actor at the 97th Academy Awards for his powerful portrayal of Lázló Tóth, who escapes the Holocaust and sails to the United States to find his American Dream. The film spans 30 years in the life of Tóth, a fictional character whose unorthodox designs challenged societal norms, and his relentless pursuit of artistic integrity.

His first Oscar was for his role in Roman Polanski's 2002 war drama "The Pianist."

There was a special tribute to the late musical icon Quincy Jones at the 2025 Oscars Sunday evening.

Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey, who worked with him on "The Color Purple," spoke fondly of Jones.

After the introduction, Queen Latifah gave an electric performance of "Ease on Down the Road" from "The Wiz," as the Academy Awards headed into its final half hour.

Jones, who was nominated for seven Oscars during his legendary career, including three for 1985's "The Color Purple," died in November 2024 at age 91.

Jones received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 67th Academy Awards and posthumously received an honorary Oscar at the 2024 Governors Awards two weeks after his death, with his children accepting the trophy on his behalf.

Prior to the ceremony, Raj Kapoor -- executive producer and showrunner for this year's Oscars -- previewed the Jones tribute as a "beautiful moment that we hope will uplift the room, that will celebrate the spirit of Quincy and all of his greatness."

"I'm Still Here," a Brazilian film about a family torn apart by the military dictatorship that ruled Brazil for more than two decades, won the Oscar for best international film.

The Walter Salles film stars Fernanda Torres as Eunice Paiva, the wife of Rubens Paiva, a former leftist Brazilian congressman who, at the height of the country's military dictatorship in 1971, was taken from his family's Rio de Janeiro home and never returned.

During his acceptance speech, Salles dedicated the win to Paiva.

"This goes to a woman who, after a loss suffered during an authoritarian regime, decided not to bend and to resist," he said.
